What is Work Simulation?
Work Simulation is an approach where we use work tasks as a tool for people with injuries and/or disabilities to build and test their capacity for work. This method not only aids in rehabilitation but also helps individuals with disabilities gain confidence and reduce anxiety about starting or returning to work. By measuring progress through familiar and graduated tasks in a safe, supervised environment, we create a supportive space for growth and increase chances for achieving your goals.
This approach offers a custom solution. We collaborate with everyone involved to design and implement specific work tasks that the person with an injury or disability wants or needs to test their capacity against. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. It is a collaborative effort tailored to a person’s goals, promoting a return to work and overall function, while also fostering confidence and easing the transition back into the workforce.

When our Work Simulation Program maybe of use?
- Uncertainty around someone's physical, psychological and cognitive capacity to tolerate work tasks
- Unsure about what future work one could do
- High pain intensity and quality
- High perceived disability which is impacting on home, work, recreational or social activities
- Excessive pain focus and fear of aggravating pain through work or normal daily activity
- Beliefs of having a negative future prognosis or that work activities were unsafe
- Poor pain related self-efficacy, poor belief in own self-management of pain
- Prominent psychological distress including anxiety and depressive symptoms, poor coping
- Perception of non-supportive workplace, suitable duties not available early in injury
